Productive and Healthy Municipality Project,
Pedro Moncayo County,
Province of Pichincha 2001-2004

This project is concerned with the elaboration of an integrated human development approach wherein the civil society actively defines local alternatives to the problems and contradictions that affect specific groups within the population, especially the most vulnerable.
In this project, the issue of health is understood from a holistic viewpoint wherein the structural, social, economic, cultural, and environmental factors that contribute to the overall health of the community are considered.

As a part of this process, the County Health Council was formed under the auspices of the The National Health System Law. Additionally, the County Assembly approved the Integrated Health Plan 2003-2007. Fundacion Cimas acts as the General Coordinator of the County Health Council.

It is hoped that this project will become a Pilot Project of the Integrated Health System, which would be replicated nationally.
